Course Description
This one day workshop will teach both EMDR clinicians and other trauma professionals skillful ways to assist clients in crisis. Sheila Russell, LISW presents Crisis Interventions in the morning session. Critical Incident Desensitization Protocols (CIDP) are crisis interventions that help quickly lower levels of disturbance from acute stress or recent trauma. These protocols are developed for non-mental health professionals to assist with immediate or high-crisis situations. This training can be beneficial for staff members working in direct care, schools, medical entities, behavioral departments, or any services where you have direct patient care. This is open to any professionals working with trauma as well as EMDR clinicians. 1st Responders such as police, firefighters, EMT, military, residential treatment professionals, community crisis center staff, emergency response teams who work with crisis and trauma. +++No EMDR training or mental health licensure required for morning presentation.
The afternoon continues with Amy Terrell, LMHC teaching EMDR brief protocols for EMDR trained clinicians in Francine Shapiro's Brief EMDR protocols, including Early Intervention protocols, such as Recent Events and EMDR, for use with clients in crisis or in need of clinical interventions to reduce distress but not yet stabilized for EMDR processing.
